Two men with ties to Williamson County served in Massachusetts regiments during the Civil War.
William Holmes was born in Virginia and served in the 5th Massachusetts Cavalry during the War. Soon after his service, he moved to Williamson County where he married and raised a family. He lived here until his death in 1902.
Benjamin Patton may have been a member of a free family of Patton/Redmonds from near Triune and Nolensville. He was living in Cincinnati when he enlisted in the 54th Massachusetts Infantry. After the War, he settled in Williamson County where he received a pension.
